Singer Sam Moore Passes Away at 89
Sad news for the world of music this morning. Sam Moore, known for being part of the soul duo Sam and Dave and for hits like Soul Man and Hold On, I’m Comin’, has died. He was 89 years old.
According to Variety, he died on January 10th after complications from an undisclosed surgery.
In addition to the aforementioned hits, the singing duo was known for songs such as I Thank You, Born Again, You Got Me Hummin’ and When Something is Wrong with My Baby. They also won a Grammy for Soul Man in 1968 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
Dave Prater, the second half of the duo, died in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and grandchildren.
