ICYMI: B Positive Recap for Love Life Support
The episode opens with Gina (Annaleigh Ashford) and Eli (Terrence Terrell) coming home from a date. She is touched that he is taking her home and he has a car that doesn’t have duct tape. He says his mom raised him to always write thank you notes and to take his hookups home.
The topic switches to the fact that they have to sneak around because of Drew (Thomas Middleditch). Neither one are happy with it, but they want to be together.
Gina sneaks into the house, but ends up crashing into a lamp. She runs into the other room to put on a robe and pretend it woke her up when Drew comes down. She tries to convince him she also just woke up, but he catches her in the lie.
Norma (Linda Lavin) also wakes up to see if Drew ‘killed or got killed’ when she sees him and Gina arguing. She yells at them, but Drew and Gina keep arguing. Gina finally storms off and Norma gives Drew a talking to, saying Gina is correct about him being a jerk over the situation. Drew reminds her that they are serving powdered eggs at the home, so she quickly changes her tune, saying there are two sides to every story.
At dialysis, Eli and Drew have a discussion about the Gina situation. Samantha (Briga Heelan), Gideon (Darryl Stephens) and Jerry (David Anthony Higgins) give their own opinions on the situation as they listen.
Drew decides to take the high road when he realizes Eli really does like Gina. He suggests they all go out to a steakhouse that weekend with Gina. Elli promises they are still friends, while Samantha snarks that the relationship is like Sex and the City.
At the steakhouse that weekend, Drew toasts to Eli and Gina being a happy couple. He also tries to buy them flowers, but in the end makes everyone feel uncomfortable. Jerry also tries to buy Samantha a flower, but she smashes the butter he has hidden in his pocket. Gideon isn’t happy he took the butter and rolls.
Eli takes Gina aside to invite her to Vegas. She says yes, even though she isn’t allowed in the fountain at their hotel. He informs her they will be going to his cousin’s wedding that weekend. As they talk about it, Drew has a band play for them, causing more discomfort.
Gina tells Norma and Gabby (Kether Donahue) about her plans the next day. They both warn her that she will be meeting his family, which is a very big step. This leads to her calling him and he tells her that everyone is going to love her, causing her to freak out.
The next morning, Drew and Norma find Paul (Gina’s friend with benefits) in the house. They wonder why he is there and try to hide him when Eli arrives. Drew hides him in the garage while trying to get rid of Paul. Gina arrives with Paul’s breakfast and Drew fills her in on the situation.
They finally get Paul (Adam Chambers) to leave and bring Eli in the house. Unfortunately, Paul comes back to get his food and kisses Gina. Eli realizes what is happening and storms out.
Gina is upset and admits to Drew she was trying to sabotage things because she doesn’t feel worthy of being loved like that. Drew convinces her that she is a good person and they hug it out.
After she leaves, Norma comes in and accuses him of being in love with Gina. Drew denies this.
Gina goes to apologize to Eli and they make up. He also admits he is nervous because she is so different from the girls he usually dates. They decide to make their own love story as the episode comes to a close.
