Tell me about yourself and career
My name is Ari Cagan. I’m going to be 20 years old in a few days and that’s terrifying because it makes whatever I do in my career less impressive. I’ve been a YouTube creator for years and recently ventured into the world of podcasting to expand my creativity with Things You Don’t Need to Know.

How did your podcast come to be?
I was visiting the set of an upcoming HBO series with my friend Leo to get lunch and see his dad. The lunch was actually pretty good, but also we didn’t have to pay. I ended up meeting Adam Mckay on the set and well, the rest is history!

How did you guys decide to collaborate?
Adam McKay saw my YouTube videos and emailed me asking if I would be interested in making a podcast. He pitched a fun idea for a podcast about learning things you’ll never need to know. I’d always wanted to do something like that so it was a perfect match.

What are some challenges of doing the podcasts?

The hardest part of creating the podcast is the editing. Sometimes I have hours and hours of audio but cutting it down to a 15-minute episode is a fun challenge.

What are some of your favorite episodes you did so far?
All of the episodes have something a little different. My episodes on multi-level marketing, selling your soul and working as a pickup artist are some of the best, but the episode on tricking your friends (episode 10) is probably my favorite.

What topic would you like to cover that you have not yet so far?
I really want to make an episode about getting into celebrity tabloid magazines. I think it would be really funny to see myself in one for a completely made up story.

What else are you working on?
Too many things. I upload YouTube videos on my channel but it’s mostly just for fun. I also run a small dropshipping business and write down any ideas I have for standup comedy. I also wrote a screenplay last year if anyone wants to buy it.

Tell me a fun fact about yourself.
I don’t drink. A lot of people would consider this a not so fun fact.

What are you watching on TV these days?
I don’t watch much TV but when I do it’s Seinfeld or a limited series someone recommended. Watching TV takes too long so I usually prefer movies.

Anything else you would like to share?
Joe’s Pizza in New York City took my photo off their wall and I fully intend to put it back up!
