Update: Lori Loughlin has been taken into custody earlier this morning and will appear. In court this afternoon.
Updates as per TMZ: Both women have been indicted. Felicity Huffman is set to appear in court later on today, while Willliam Rick Singer pled guilty to charges including racketeering conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
Actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin are said to be involved in a nationwide college admissions scam, TVGrapevine has learned. The news broke this morning and has been reposted by several news sites.
Huffman was arrested, along with Loughlin’s husband Mossimo Giannulli. There is a warrant out for Loughlin’s arrest, but she is supposedly out of the country. Feds have given her orders to turn herself in.
According to reports, Huffman was arrested for her part of the scam and there is a warrant out for Loughlin’s arrest. Huffman’s husband William H. Macy was not arrested.
Huffman allegedly “made a purported charitable contribution of $15,000 … to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of her eldest daughter” and considered it with her second daughter, but decided against it.
Loughlin and her husband allegedly “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC” reports have stated.
The scandal, which involved at least 48 more people and run by William Rick Singer, involved parents paying hefty bribes to get their children into their chosen colleges or universities.
