Biggest Loser Couples IIIOlympic Week Recap by vic2rea Tonight's episode of NBC's The Biggest Loser opens with the usual flashback to last week's elimination. After John leaves the elimination room, Alison announces that the games are about to begin because this week they will all be going to The United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado. She tells them they will eat, sleep and train alongside the best of the best, the athletes that will represent the United States of America in the Olympics. We see our contestants arrive at the training center where they are welcomed by Alison who quickly announces that they will be competing this week as individuals. Melissa throws in her two cents off camera and says that it will be different for her and Lance than the other teams, because they are husband and wife. They have made a commitment to be a teammate forever and have to work together to help each other no matter what. Alison then announces that two players will be eliminated. The person with the lowest percentage of weight loss will fall below a red line and they will be automatically eliminated with no vote, no deliberation. She continues that two more will fall below the yellow line and one of them will be going home. Alison then introduces Alison Jones, of the paralympic team, who talks about how she was born without one of her legs and how her mother introduced her to sports and skiing. Alison Jones takes the torch, and each of our contestants are allowed to carry the torch a short distance, until Ms. Jones takes it up the stairs and lights the cauldron. Then, when our contestants arrive in their rooms, they find autographed Olympic flags and a note from the resident athletes and staff saying they are proud to be a part of their journey. After some time spent with Bob and the nutrition staff talking about each athletes individualized diet and fueling their bodies, we see Sam and Koli back in their room. They talk about John. Koli says it bothers him how John left and how he feels so bad for him. Koli feels that John needs it more than he does, and is finding it hard to feel worthy of the opportunity he has been given. Koli tells Sam that he has never done anything for himself and wants to let the walls down and let himself grow - instead of running away, run into it. Bob introduces our contestants to Alpine Skier, Julia Mancuso and Freestyle Skier, Speedy Peterson. Speedy tells them about his "hurricane" - three flips with five twists, 55 feet in the air and it takes 3.2 seconds to complete. Our contestants are impressed (who wouldn't be). Julia tells them that she has been skiing her whole life and is glad she gets to be there to show them some of the stuff she does. Jillian then tells them that they are not just meeting the athletes, but will be working out with them. Let the workout begin! Jillian tells the athletes if the contestants mess up, feel free to punish them. Bob is pushing them hard because they have to stay above the both the red and yellow lines this week. When they finish the workout, Bob tells them they have done a good job. Speedy says they are an inspiration to him - he says he doesn't work out as hard as they did. Bob takes Koli aside and they talk about his feelings of being unworthy. Bob tries to get him out of those feelings and focus on himself. The Pop Challenge Alison greets the contestants in the gym. She tells them becoming an Olympic champion boils down to one thing - pushing harder than anyone else. She introduces J.R. Celski, Short Track Speedskating, to tell them what the pop challenge will entail. JR tells them that he has been speedskating since he was 3 years old and he is 19 now. He also tells them that just 2 months ago, he was hospitalized, unable to move. He says no matter what the situation, you just have to get back up. The contestants thank him for telling his story. Alison tells them that each of them have a slideboard. They will have to slide back and forth, getting one point for each time they touch a side... they will need 500 points to finish. There will be three prizes - but she will not tell them what they are - only that they are worth their weight in gold... and silver... and bronze. The three top finishers in the pop challenge will get advantages in the main challenge. JR shows them how to use the slideboards and he makes it look easy. Darrell, Miggy and O'Neal will be sitting out due to medical problems. Daris falls. Sherry falls. Melissa takes an easy lead and is the first to 100. Sam begins to catch up to Melissa. Sam and Melissa are tied for first place at 487 when Melissa falls. Sam is the first to 500, followed by Melissa and finally Sunshine. Alison awards them their medals - just like in the real Olympics, podiums and all! The Challenge Alison welcomes the contestants to the Garden of the Gods for the main challenge. She introduces Kelly Underkofler, Paralympics Biathlon/Cross Country Skiing. Kelly relates her story of being born without her left arm and how something she had to live with all her life and everyday is something new to overcome. Alison then announces that the challenge is a biathlon - cross-country skiing and shooting. Lance says off camera that he has this inthe bag because he has hunted most of his life. She tells them that they won't be skiing, they will be running around the field. Each trip around, they get to take a shot at a target representing other contestants. If the contestant's target is hit five times, they are out. Alison hands out the advantages. Sunshine will be allowed to hit one target before the competition begins, Melissa will be allowed to hit two targets and Sam will be allowed to hit three. Sunshine hits Sam's target. Melissa opts to hit Sam's target twice. Sam hits Sunshine's target once and Melissa's target twice... (they had to see that coming!) Melissa acknowledges that they have shot themselves in the foot. Alison then announces the winner of the challenge will have immunity. First lap they line up and one after another shoot and take out Lance. Second lap, Melissa is taken out. Third lap, Miggy. Fourth Daris. Fifth, Mike. Sixth Andrea. Seventh Sunshine. Eighth Koli. Ninth Sam. Tenth Stephanie. Eleventh Sherry. Twelfth Cheryl. Thirteenth Ashley. O'Neal and Darrell are the last two standing and fighting it out neck and neck. O'Neal and Darrell arrive at the targets, aim at the same time... and fire! O'Neal takes Darrell out and wins immunity at the weigh-in. (That was a good challenge.) Last Chance Workout Our contestants arrive back at the ranch and Bob and Jillian takes them to 24 Hours Fitness for a workout with Rockne Brubaker, pairs figure skater - two time national champion. Bob tells Rockne to beat them up. Miggy says she is going to give it all she has, then give it all she doesn't have. After the workout with Rockne, Bob informs them that it was fun, but the last chance workout has not yet begun. Bob and Jillian show absolutely no mercy and our contestants keep up with them. Mike has a goal of 17 pounds to beat Rudy's record. The Weigh-In Alison explains again the weigh-in. The person below the red line goes home immediately. The two below the yellow line will face elimination through the vote. O'Neal 325 - 8 2.40% (Immunity) Sam 298 -12 3.87% Miggy 199 - 7 3.40% Daris 274 - 9 3.18% Lance 305 - 9 2.87% Koli 326 - 9 2.69% Andrea 255 - 6 2.67% Michael 432 -11 2.48% Sunshine 239 - 6 2.45% Ashley 311 - 6 1.89% Stephanie 221 - 4 1.78% Sherry 177 - 3 1.67% Yellow Line Cheryl 191 - 3 1.55% Darrell 338 - 5 1.46% Red Line Melissa 199 + 1 Melissa is automatically eliminated. She doesn't understand why she gained a pound, but says at least she gets to see her kids. She says if anyone has to go home it should be her as the others have serious medical problems and she is nearer her goal weight. She vows to be at her goal weight for the finale, and tells them they have to keep Lance on the ranch and keep him motivated. She says he can not come home before 250. She tells him to do what he knows what he has to do and he is here to focus on losing weight. She tells him she is going home and not to follow her. He answers her with "Yes ma'am." Alison tells her she is not the biggest loser and they look forward to seeing her at the finale. She hugs Jillian, then Bob, then Lance. She cries and tells him she loves him and Alison tells her it is time to go. Melissa leaves and Alison dismisses Bob and Jillian. Alison tells them that this is Olympics week, and in the Olympics they do not vote to see who wins. Tonight they will not have a vote. She tells them that Cheryl and Darrell will have a head-to-head competition and the one that loses will go home. She tells them to come withher and they leave the gym... The challenge is for each of them to balance a torch stem on their heads, if it falls, the flame will go out in the cauldron and that person will go home. Cheryl stares straight ahead as Darrell fidgets... TO BE CONTINUED Melissa says being on the Biggest Loser was a remarkable experience and she has no regrets. She says Bob killed her in the gym and she did everything he asked her to do. She says he would not let her fail and doesn't think she would have come as far as she did without Bob. She tells us that the next time we see her, she will be the Melissa Morgan she is supposed to be. Melissa arrived at the ranch weighing 233. She now weighs 175 pounds and looks fantastic. She has taken up boxing and has become addicted. She hopes to encourage her children to live a healthy life and pay it forward. Her son says she looks hot. Melissa hopes to complete a marathon and be at her goal weight of 145 pounds by the finale.
