Survivor: SamoaSurvivor Samoa
Recap December 3, 2009

Tonight's Survivor Samoa begins with ten left and a myriad of targets emerge now that the tribes are represented more evenly.

John feels that it was a good move to take out Laura and feels that this move showed that he could work with Russell who promised him that the next tribe member to go would be a Foa Foa, while Monica says that there needs to be loyalty and she couldn't flop on Laura. She begins to think that it is John who must go home. Shambo is just excited to see her nemesis, "the medusa," leave the tribe.

Morning breaks on Aiga and Russell delivers tree mail with money. The tribe feels sure that this bodes well for a bidding war on food. Shambo is excited to get food at the auction. They each have five hundred and there is no sharing of the food or the money. Natalie jumps right in wit a two hundred dollar bid when she spies peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. She wins the bid and eats heartily. The next item remains covered and for two hundred forty dollars Shambo wins sea noodles and slug guts covered in parmesean. Dave bids three hundred immediately on a covered item. Monica tops his bid for three hundred forty dollars and she won an entire roasted chicken. The next item gives one member a significant advantage in the next challenge. John and Jaison get into a bidding war. Jaison jumps to five hundred dollars and wins the advantage which remains a mystery. Mick bids five hundred dollars on a cheeseburger and fries with a cold beer. A clue to the location of the hidden immunity idol and John wins it for two hundred dollars. John bids again on a shower with soap and clean underwear but Natalie overbids him and wins the shower for one hundred twenty dollars. The next item is a gigantic piece of apple pie and John wins it for three hundred dollars. He can keep his piece of pie or trade it for no pie for him but pie for four others. He is confident that no one will vote him out based on pie, and decides to keep his piece. Russell thinks that he should have gotten pie for others and thinks that it would influence Shambo.

John goes on an idol search but has no luck with it. He wonders if Russell already has it. Shambo has a sad goodbye with the chickens as they prepare them for a meal. She says they have been her single source of happiness in the last twenty-nine days and can't participate in the killing of them. She wanted them to lay eggs so that they wouldn't be dinner. Shambo takes over the cooking to maximize the portions and the nutrition they can get out of it but Dave thinks that hard boiling them for two hours is going to ruin them. Shambo insists her way is correct and ignores him. No word on how the chicken turned out.

Later Shambo speaks about her clairvoyant dreams and says that she had a dream last night that Dave was voted off. When she tells Russell, he agrees with her and then tells Natalie that with someone unstable like Shambo, it is best to go along because she only votes with her heart, not her head. He says that if Dave goes, they will have the numbers to get to the top.

The tribe meets with Jeff for the immunity challenge. The challenge gives each member a rope and at the end of it a very heavy log. Every three minutes they must move their hand to the next knot on the rope which will decrease the leverage they have on the rope. Jaison has an advantage which will allow him to move his hand back up two positions at any point in time. Jaison chooses to use it at the earliest opportunity. They may only use one hand at a time on the rope and switch hands with each move. Shambo loses it first and Russell goes out quickly. Monica drops out and John goes after her quickly, followed by Brett. It is down to Jaison, Mick, Dave, and Natalie. Mick loses it quickly. Natalie goes out next to leave immunity between Dave and Jaison. Dave slips a bit and Jaison hangs in there. He feels that they have to get Dave tonight so he continues to hang in there until Dave is out. Jaison wins individual immunity and is safe from tonight's tribal council.

Shambo feels that she is in a position of power with Foa Foa and knows they will vote the way she wants them to. She says that Dave is "so gone tonight."

Aiga congratulates Jaison on his win, and Mick believes that tonight Dave will go. John tells Russell that the plan is working. Russell mistakenly tells John that he has the idol and then decides that John has to go. He goes to Dave and offers to keep him there in the game if John is the one to go. Russell goes to Mick and asks him who he wants gone. Mick says that John is the most dangerous in the game and they decide that it is John to go. Mick tells Jaison who disagrees, saying that they would be leaving Shambo out to dry the same way Galu did and she will leave them.

At Survivor Samoa's tribal council Jeff asks if Jaison's advantage helped and Dave agrees that it did. Shambo says that today was a peaceful day, and Russell says that the day was totally strategic. Dave tells Jeff that he has done his best to be honest and speak his mind in the game. Mick says that everyone comes to the council ready to go home, but Russell thinks that the person will be surprised. Shambo thinks that the person knows they are leaving.

The tribe votes:
Mick, Dave, John, John, John, John, John. Shambo is shocked to learn that it is John that is gone. Natalie whispers that Shambo had no idea that he was the target. John's torch is extinguished and he leaves the game.

Next week:
Mick wonders if Russell is going to play with them to the end. He suggests that he may be the snake promising not to bite, but waiting for the opportunity while they continue to play with him.

John's last words:
He is surprised that he is the one to leave this week. He knew that people were scrambling, but didn't see it coming.
