The Amazing RaceThe Amazing Race
Heating Up For The Finale
Sunday 8/7c on CBS
By Muffins

CBS' The Amazing Race is heating up as it heads toward the finish line. This Sunday teams dash from Estonia to the Czech Republic in central Europe. For the Roadblock, it appears that a member from each team will put on a performance at the State Opera House in Prague .

Previews show Flight Time singing and dancing at the ornate theater. For the Detour, racers have to choose between pulling themselves on a suspended cable over a raging river or white water rafting down the same river to receive their next clue. One team goes back on their word while Brian and Erika find themselves in hot water when their waiting cab is snatched by another team.

With only 1 extra team remaining in the race, the final (probably) non-elimination leg behind them, and three legs to go, it's a pretty good bet that 1 of the next 2 episodes will end at the mat with a clue and Phil's instructions to "Keep on racing".

The Amazing RaceThere has been something lacking in this season of The Amazing Race. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what the missing element is and perhaps it isn't a single element at all, but a number of  elements that are not as polished as they have been in previous seasons. The challenges seem to be missing the edge that adds real drama to the competition. In what other reality show would a waterslide be a legitimate challenge? There was exactly 1 person didn't have a blast riding down it. What about putting on a mask and acting like a monkey? That wasn't even entertaining to watch. A Fast Forward that has a person driving a car around an empty race track? Race to the top of the tallest building in Dubai and then take the elevator down? What happened to the imagination that organizers of The Amazing Race used to have? Where are the special moments? The Kim shaving her head and Gus at the slave market moments? The moments where human nature takes over and we feel what the racers feel? And what has happened to Phil? Where is the guy who originated the idea of No Opportunity Wasted? Who is the guy at  the mat trying to stir up artificial drama between the teams? Someone please put out a BOLO for Phil Keoghan and let him know there is an alien impersonating him on The Amazing Race.

Tune in to CBS after Sixty Minutes on Sunday night to see the 10th leg of  The Amazing Race.
