The Amazing Race We Are Quitting the Race CBS' The Amazing Race returns tonight with the 7th leg of this race around the world for $1,000,000. Six teams and 5 legs remain in this season of The Amazing Race as teams finally leave Dubai behind and travel to Europe. Will Gary and Matt continue to run in the middle of the pack while making no enemies? Will Ericka melt down all the way? Will karma strike down Big Easy after he taunted Mika last week? Stayed tuned to find out. As winners of the last leg of the race Meghan and Cheyne are first to receive the next clue to fly over 3000 miles to Amsterdam. Once there they will travel to a 19 mile long causeway that links North Holland and Friesland. Racers will search for the Lely Monument which is located halfway across the causeway which separates freshwater on one side from the saltwater on the other and it protects Amsterdam and other low-lying towns from the assault of the ocean. Teams arrive at the airport in Dubai and learn that the first plane to Amsterdam won't leave until midnight. They have many, many hours to spend together at the airport. The racers are all sitting together and the atmosphere is pretty lighthearted. They ask Big Easy about what happened with Mika and Canaan. Big Easy tells the story of finding them at the top of the slide with Mika crying. He admitted that he told her she shouldn't go down because he didn't want to lose the race. Everyone laughed. During this chat-fest, Sam and Dan feel comfortable enough to come out to the other teams as the "token gay team". Everyone is shocked. The girls are laughing and they tell the camera privately that it doesn't matter to the girls who the guys date. Tiffany adds well, there might be a small tear in her eye. Teams finally get to all fly to Amsterdam and they find the monument pretty quickly. They find the clue box which directs them to drive to Groningen and find Martinitoren, the tallest building in the city and search the grounds for the clue box. Ericka and Brian have a confessional with the camera. Ericka admits to being more high-strung and stressed out than Brian in the race. When Brian has trouble starting th e Mercedes at the airport, Ericka is flipping out in the backseat. She was flipping out at th e Detour in the last leg, apparently letting Brian put the hookahs together mostly by himself - although editing could have shown us something different from what actually occurred. Meghan and Cheyne are first to the clue box - Road Block. One team member must climb the stairs of the church tower and count the bells that make up the carillon. When they come up with the correct number (62) the carillon player will give them their next clue. The brothers arrive right behind Meghan and Cheyne. Sam and Meghan agree to work together. Flight Time, Matt, Tiffany, and Ericka are also doing it.  As the racers are at the top of the tower counting the bells, the carillon player begins to play. The loud music coming from the bells is distracting for the racers. Matt is first to head down with his guess on the number of bells. He gets 62 on the first try and he receives the next clue to travel to Vierhuizen De Marne and find a specific windmill to receive their next clue. Sam and Cheyne both get the number correct and Sam whispers the number to Tiffany when they pass on the stairs. Sam explains that the girls are a team they can beat so it made sense to help them along at this point. Flight Time is next to get the number correct, leaving just Ericka to try to get the correct number. Her first guess is 43. Sam and Dan arrive at the clue box first. Detour. Farmer Game or Farmer Dance. In both challenges, teams will dress in traditional costumes and ride bicycles to their tasks. Both challenges are past times that farmers like to do after a hard day's work as they try to relax. In Farmer Game, teams will strip down to their farmer underwear, swim a creek,  and play 3 holes of farmers golf by switching off with each other. They must finish each hole in 8 or fewer strokes, if they don't they must continue playing until they can do it at par. In Farmers Dance, teams must find the country festival and one of them must ring the bell at the top of the high striker. After that, they will have to learn a traditional Dutch dance which they will perform in front of a crowd. When they have demonstrated the dance correctly, they will receive salted herring and onions to eat. Once they have finished eating the herring, they will receive their next clue. The brothers and Team Pinkie and the Brain are doing the dance, while Meghan and Cheyne are going to golf.  The brothers see the creek to do the golf before they reach the festival so they decide to golf instead. Ericka's next guess at the church tower is 56. Brian feels that she must be close and he is sure that she is trying as hard as she can. Ericka is remaining surprisingly calm despite her less than patient demeanor. The girls are dressed in their outfits and are heading out on the bikes. Ericka goes down to talk to Brian. She tells him she's not quitting, but this is the hardest thing she's ever done. He tells her that he understands. He takes her utside for a 5 min break and then she will go back up to try again. The brothers finish the golf successfully and they receive the next clue directing  them to bike through town and find Zoutkamp Harbor, the pit stop for this leg of the race. Meghan and Cheyne are restarting the golf game again - Meghan has said a number of times now that she can't play golf - I have to give Cheyne some amount of credit for not telling her to be quiet about it already. Matt and Gary are at the festival. Gary is getting his first dance lesson when Matt points out that they will have to eat herring and he (Matt) doesn't like fish. They decide to change tasks. Brian gives Ericka a pep talk and tells her to go back in and to just not quit. Cheyne and Meghan get the hang of the golf and this time they finish and receive their clue to the pit stop. The girls are at the festival and are not coming even close to ringing the bell on the high striker. Ericka finds the carillon player and laughs as she writes down her guess for him. He comments on her laughing and she tells him she had already cried, but he just didn't see it. This time she gets it right. Sam and Dan find Phil at the harbor and he greets them as Team # 1. As winners of this leg of the race they win a sand buggy. We see the girls trying their 28th, 29th, and 30th time and they realize they will never get the bell to ring so they head back to try golf. The Globetrotters arrive at the festival and quickly ring the bell on the high striker. Meghan and Cheyne arrive at the pit stop as Team # 2. Ericka and Brian are in traditional dress now, but they fail to read the clue that tells them to ride bikes to the challenge they pick. They are running down the road in uncomfortable wooden shoes. The Globetrotters seem to have a lot of fun as they learn the steps to the  dance. When they receive the fish to eat, Flight Time looks as though he's going to get sick. They finish and get their clue to go to the pit stop. The girls are having no luck playing golf. They decide to go back to the dance. They get there and we see hit number 50 - still no luck. They take a break and hug in tears of frustration. Brian and Ericka finally realize that they were supposed to pick up the bikes but they continued to the festival. Gary and Matt finish and get their clue to the pit stop. The Globetrotters arrive at the pit stop as Team # 3. The girls take their 71st swing at the striker with some close misses, but misses none the less. They decide to go back to the golf. Brian and Ericka arrive at the festival and Brian gets the striker. They learn the dance and Ericka's spirits lift. They finish the dance and the herring. They borrow a pair of bikes and cycle to the pit stop. Phil tells them they are the 5th team to arrive, but because they did not ride a bicycle to the festival as the clue clearly directed them to, they received a 30 minute penalty. The 30 minutes pass and they are checked in as Team # 5. The girls are still trying to do the golf, but they are not getting it. The wind has been blowing  hard for quite a while - you could see the bushes moving while the other teams were playing. Maria tells Tiffany that she doesn't think she can do it. The girls are huddled together when Phil walks over to them (no he did not strip and swim the creek). He tells them that he understands that they want to quit the race. Tiffany carefully says that they don't want to quit the race, but that they did not foresee being able to complete the task with the weather. Tiffany says they are quitting the race and that they understand that they will be eliminated from the race. We see the girls walking away, but don't actually see Phil tell them that they have been eliminated - although make no mistake, there is no doubt that they were eliminated even though we didn't see it. Next week on The Amazing Race, teams travel to Stockholm, Sweden where they have a blast with explosives as they detonate it in a gravel pit. Also teams revisit a grueling Roadblock where one team member must unroll rolls of hay until they discover one that has the next clue in the center of a roll. We first saw this challenge in the 3rd leg of TAR 6  in which Lena unrolled over 50 rolls over 8 hours without finding a clue. The challenge ended when Phil came out to the Road Block to find Lena still looking. He let her know that the other teams had finished hours before making them the last team and they were eliminated there in the field. That is a Road Block that I remember very well even though it was shown over 5 years ago.
