Survivor SamoaSurvivor Samoa
Recap  October 29, 2009

Tonight's Survivor Samoa opens with the men of Galu exploring the option of working with Shambo.  Their secret plan is to put her in Russell's position of Tribe Leader, using her to give them the votes to take out the other females. They then plan to take her out, leaving them to the finals. They want her as deep in their pockets as a piece of lint, and think she is naive enough to believe in them.

On Foa Foa, Russell thinks that not having a tribal council has evened the tribes a bit more. At five to eight he thinks that his tribe might have a chance.

Back on Galu, the men ask Shambo if she will lead the tribe. She tells them that they need to vote on it. They decide to assign each person a number and hold up the number of fingers. The men all vote for Shambo and she agrees to be the tribal leader. She tells them that she didn't ask for it, but will do it and try not to be too bossy. The men still don't want to tell her their plans for fear she will spill the beans.

Survivor Samoa Reward ChallengeArriving at the challenge, Jeff tells them that this challenge will test their memory as well as help them to discern their wants from their needs. They are playing for a trip on a sailboat for an afternoon out on the water with a full lunch. The challenge is to uncover picnic food cover type tents that have matching items under them. This is a match game. Each match gives them a point. There are three wild cards that have no match. In a twist, they can forfeit the point in exchange for the item matched. Foa Foa gains the first match of a fire starting kit and a tarp, and decides to forfeit the point, keeping the kit. Galu next matches the mosquito net and decides to keep the point. Foa Foa still has no match. John matches again for Galu. They go for the point this time. Foa Foa matches and Galu gets fishing gear and still takes the point. Foa Foa is not matching well and when Natalie matching the pots they gain the opportunity to stay in the game. Galu next matches the eating utensils and wins the challenge. Galu's leader, Shambo, sends Laura to the opposing tribe saying that she needs her men strong for a challenge and she has already been twice. The girls are not happy with her choice saying that Laura is the strongest girl on their team.

The RewardLaura joins the Foa Foa tribe and she and Russell have a heart to heart. Russell makes a secret deal with her to go to final two and she tells him that she is in Christian ministry, but she doesn't feel her calling is to minister to men. Meanwhile Galu is having a great day on a pirae ship. They pilot the ship and dine on a full plate of stew with mushrooms, bread, and scones. Shambo says that she is loving this after sixteen days of hell. Shambo says that she didn't relish the thought of sending Laura over there, but she felt that she did the right move and isn't going to feel badly about it.

On Foa Foa Laura tells that she rides a Harley and converses about her ministry. She says that she is reading a spiritual book. Natalie and she have a strong bond in faith. Liz is irritated that she is putting the fire together and working while Laura and Natalie discuss book of the month. She  complains to others. Russell feels that he has to look after his "little toy" Natalie, and needs her there for her vote.

Immunity ChallengeJeff greets the tribes for the immunity challenge. They must paddle boats out into the water to retreive puzzle pieces by fishing for them, return with them and construct a puzzle. Foa Foa leaves their leadership necklace behind believing it is bad luck. It is neck and neck at the first station with them snagging the puzzle pieces quickly with their grappling hook. Foa Foa takes the lead and keeps it snagging all six puzzle bags. Liz snags them quickly and their tribe heads back. Kelly quickly snags Galu's pieces and tribes move quickly back. Foa Foa keeps the lead, but Galu moves to catch up. Jaison, Mick, and Liz work the puzzle for Foa Foa while, Foa Foa feels that they have a pattern going and realize that there might be gaps in the puzzle by its nature. Galu moves into the lead and wins the immunity. Mick explains that they are frustrated that they had the pattern before Galu but couldn't get the pieces together. Russell feels that Jaison gave up and just stood there looking at the puzzle. He worries that his tribe may cost him the million dollars. Foa Foa once again has to go to tribal council and vote out one of their members.

Mick has no understanding of why he couldn't get into the program and figure out the puzzle. He worries that he might get voted out. Liz feels that she wants to crawl into a hole when she is constantly losing. Russell speaks quietly and quickly to Liz suggesting that it might be Natalie or Jaison who didn't pull off the challenge. Liz is thrilled that this might work out to her advantage since she thought it was between her and Natalie leaving. Russell speaks to the camera and thinks that it will be either Liz or Jaison.

At tribal council Jeff speaks to the group about their dismal performance in the challenges. Russell says that they need to hold on until the merge because they might outplay and outlast them but he guarantees that they can't outwit him. Russell says that he really wants to keep the four together. Liz speaks about how she trusts her group and how close they have become through the adversity they have shared. Jeff asks Jaison about his mood and he says that he couldn't figure out how to see the pattern and he didn't perform at the level that he should have. He feels a great responsibility to his tribe for his low level of performance. Jeff calls for the vote.

Liz votes out Jaison saying that it is strategic and not at all personal. Natalie votes out Liz.

Liz BanishedThe votes;
Jaison, Liz, Liz, Liz. Sixth person voted out of Survivor Samoa is Liz. the tribe is down to four members now. Jeff tells them that they may not be strong in the challenges, but they have blindsides down perfectly. He sends them back to  camp.

Next weeK:  The merge brings chaos to the united tribe. Russell says that things are going crazy.

Liz's last words:  She is glad that she made it as far as she did and hopes that her tribe makes it to the win.
