Survivor Tocantins opens with a peek at the sixteen contenders for the title of Sole Survivor. The group is broken into two tribes, Jalapao and Timbira. Their first task is to work together to gather in just one minute as many supplies as they can to make their life easier in the wilds of Brazil. The two tribes in just one minute empty the truck. One tribe got all the water and beans, while the other tribe has gathered no water or beans. The items must be carried four miles inland. Items include watermelon and cooking supplies, ropes, and other camp items.
Jalapao uses the compass to figure out where they are going. They decide to cut the trip by traveling across the land. Timbira finds that they have a lot to carry. Benjamin, a coach who also conducts a symphony, decides to share his theory of the game, which is to look for a strong opponent worthy of beating. He feels that the tribe is only as strong as its weakest link, so they must work to make the weakest stronger. Arriving first, Sandy reads a tree mail message that tells her that she can either work on the camp to curry favor or she can search for a clue to a hidden immunity idol. Her clue leads her to the beach and she decides to search for the idol. Sierra decides to forego the search for the hidden immunity idol and begins to build the shelter for their camp. She says that first impressions last forever, but she hopes to change their first impressions by showing some of her many strengths. When Jalapao arrives they are upset to find that Sandy has done nothing to help set up the camp. It is late when Timbira arrives and they are pleasantly surprised to find that Sierra has completely finished a shelter that will support 8 people. One tribemate, however, states that she wasn't there for a great bonding experience and that can't be changed. The tribe tells her that she would not have made the trek with her fever and she agrees, but states that she has shelter for them. Carolina from Jalapao wants to get a shelter going, but Sandy excuses herself to go to the restroom as an excuse to locate the idol. She finds the stick and the next clue, but is unable to walk ten paces to the next clue. Tyson, from Timbira, goes naked as he hauls water and the girls giggle and squeal. He defines himself as an atypical Morman and says that he will bring fun and laughter to the camp.
Carolina and Taj hang out and Carolina tells her that they need to clean up the camp. Taj feels that they need to hang out a bit after the challenge. Spencer feels that Sandy did well in the challenge and thinks that they should hold onto Sandy. They feel that Carolina has been very bossy and that perhaps she should be the one to go. One tribe member feels that if Carolina wants the shelter built she is more than welcome to get up there and take care of it herself. Carolina goes to Sandy and apologizes for making her feel badly by choosing her to leave right away. She and Sandy hug it out. At tribal council, Jalapao is asked how they feel about Sandy. The travelers felt that Sandy should have built some of the camp. Sandy explains that her absence the first day was to regroup and come back to the group with positive thoughts. Carolina says that she is boisterous and she comes across demanding, but it is straightforward speaking. JT votes first. Sandy votes out Carolina. Carolina votes out Sandy.
A loopy Carolina says that she is angry that she was voted off first, and is embarassed, but realizes that it was her mouth and wishes them all good luck. To join our awesome Fan Forum, click HERE
