The BachelorThe Bachelor
Season Premiere with Bachelor Jason

Hello and welcome to the Season Premiere of ABC's The Bachelor. Jason Mesnick who was in the final two last season on The Bachelorette has to choose between twenty-five women to not only be his wife, but a stepmother to his son Ty. Let's see if this season of The Bachelor produces a favorable union!

THE BACHELORETTES:

Twenty five women are fighting for Jason's heart and will stop at nothing to get that rose. As we see them getting ready and talking about how wonderful they think they are for him, I can't help but wonder if this is going to make Mean Girls look like a bunch of little kids who kicked over someone's blocks in kindergarten. Seriously, these women are so catty, and none of them even met yet! Not to mention, a lot of them coming off as desperate. (I never watched this before except for the last couple of episodes of Trista's season of The Bachelorette, so I am not sure if this is normal or not.) Although, I must admit, Stephanie's story about how her husband died when her daughter was only ten months made me cry.  I think she is truly there to move on and fall in love and not play the game as much.

As they head over to meet Jason, they are all squealing over how cute he is and cheering over him. (The name spelling cheer? Really?)

WHAT JASON WANTS

As the host Chris Harrison interviews him, Jason reflects on the memories he has of DeAnna and how shocked he was that it didn't work out. He hopes the girls this season have fun and more importantly can be themselves.

LET'S MEET!

The girls come out of the limo to meet Jason and tell him a little bit about themselves. One is celebrating her birthday and she makes him guess her age. (27) It is going kind of fast, so it is hard to keep track of who is who. One girl asks him what his favorite hot dog topping is because she has a theory about it. (And my mind goes straight to the gutter!)  After a lot of hugs, kisses and introductions, we finally get down to business. He has to give a rose to one girl who he feels made the best first impression.  But before then, he takes some time to talk to the girls.  He is nice to all of them despite the girls fighting over his attention. They discuss the possibility of being stepmoms, and the bachelorettes who are already moms feel that they have an advantage with Jason because they can relate to him being a single parent.

The hot dog topping theory basically says a mustard guy is one you want to settle down with and that is the one they hope Jason is. (he is)

Chris  comes in to present Jason with the first impression rose that puts a damper on the party because all of the girls want it.

MORE BONDING, BIRTHDAYS AND BALLOTS!

After a few dancing lessons from Raquel (with Molly cutting in) and some time with Nikki, Stephanie shares her story about losing her husband. He seems truly sympathetic and calls her amazing. i have a feeling she is getting a rose tonight and maybe even the First Impression Rose. Lauren the government teacher quizzes him on the three branches of government and then he excuses himself to give her......a birthday cake! That was sweet, I have to admit.

Chris returns with a box and announces that the women will have to vote someone off. Everyone claims it is so hard, but secretly feel happy to get rid of some competition. (They did this on Queen Bees too, so I have a feeling this isn't going to end well)

THE ROSE CEREMONY

Jason decides to give Nikki the First Impression Rose  (called that one wrong!) because he felt the most connected with her.

Jackie, Erica and Megan  are told that they got the third, second and most votes, respectively.  However,  since she got the most, Megan will be the one leaving-----with a rose. Nice play, TPTB, nice play.

After the deliberations, Jason finally chooses the women who he would like to stay.  Nikki and Megan are safe, as are Lauren, Kari, Naomi, Natalie, Molly, Raquel, Stephanie, Melissa, Jillian, Shannon, Lisa, Sharon and Erica.

Sadly, this means the other girls will have to say goodbye. Predictably, the women not chosen are upset, but surprisingly, there is not as much crying as I thought there would be.

Spoilers: skydiving, bikinis, kissing, a lot of screaming and cat fighting.  Oooooh, and a DeAnna appearance!

Tune in next week to The Bachelor to see who survives the next round! Goodnight everybody!
