LOVE STRUCK CAFE: MEET SARAH JANE MORRISPicture by hallmark                                                                                               Written by Sammi Turano

Tell me about yourself and career.

I’m a Southerner at heart and moved to LA right after college to pursue acting. I started out doing commercials which led to small co-stars and guest spots on tv before adding recurring and eventually series regular roles to my resume. This is my first movie for the Hallmark Channel. I’m also a mother to 2 children ages 3 & 7. My husband is a musician and is about to start pursuing a career in nursing. We love to cook, see live music, have friends over and travel.

What is your role in Love Struck Cafe?

I play Megan Quinn, a young woman who left her small town to pursue her dream of becoming an architect. After landing in Chicago in a job she doesn’t love at a commercial development company, she is sent back to her small town to try and convince a holdout to sell her property so the company can build. In the meantime, she is also forced to help out her father in his Cafe after a fall and face her high school sweetheart whom she still hasn’t completely let her feelings for him go.

What attracted you to the film and role?

After finishing up a dramatic arc and particularly Emotional episode of The Night Shift for NBC, I was excited to work on something a little lighter that my kids could watch. I liked that I get to bring some of my quirks and goofball tendencies to the film.

What were some highlights about filming?

We were in some very beautiful locations outside the city of Vancouver. Mt. Baker was the backdrop for about a week of shooting. The cast and crew were all very warm and friendly as well. I’ll be honest, it was also nice to get a little break from taking care of my family, as much as I missed them!

What do you hope people like about the movie?

I hope they like the story and the characters and the message that you can continue to pursue your dreams, even when your romantic life may or may not be in place.

In what ways are you similar/different from your character?

I am a lot like my character in that I want to have it all...the career, the Family, and an overall good work/life balance. I could certainly relate to going “back home” and having to face the changes that happen in life as you grow up. I would say that I’m different from her in the personal life as I’ve already married and started a family of my own and knew that was something I wanted from the get go. I think a part of Megan had convinced herself that maybe she didn’t want that part of her life to happen and she wanted to focus on career only.

What else are you working on?

I’m an active member of my theater company and still auditioning for new and interesting roles. I hope to work with Hallmark again one of these days as well as it was an overall positive experience.

What would fans be surprised to know about you?

I was a cheerleader in high school and used to be able to tumble across a football field and get launched 25 feet in the air. I was a ballet dancer prior to that so I was always a bit too graceful with my cheer moves though. Ha.

What are you watching on TV these days?

I’m watching 13 Reasons Why, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and can’t wait to start the new season of Transparent but I don’t get a lot of time to watch tv these days. I’m only good for about 1 episode of something a night so it takes me forever to get through anything. It drives my husband crazy!

Anything else you want to tell America?

Just that I hope they tune in and love #LoveStruckCafe. I’ll be live tweeting the east and west coast feeds if anyone has questions or wants to say hello!
