DAVIS MALLORY’S DIEM BROWN TRIBUTE
VIA PRESS RELEASE:
My name is Davis Mallory, a cast member from MTV’s The Real World: Denver, The Inferno 3, The Duel 2 and Rivals. You likely read the story about the Real World/Road Rules cast member Diem Brown who recently lost her battle to cancer.
I wanted to send you a preview link to a tribute song I wrote in memory of Diem. Diem Brown and I met right after I completed the Real World Denver in 2006. My mother's childhood friend has a daughter in Diem's sorority at FSU who introduced us over email prior to my filming the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Inferno 3, Diem had just finished Fresh Meat and coached me over email through the show. She and I grew up just a few miles away from each other in bordering towns in Georgia, so we hit it off pretty fast. Her passing hit me hard. I live in Nashville now and have been sharpening my songwriting/singing skills over the past several years, writing with BMI Songwriter of the Decade & Nashville Songwriter Hall of Famer Roger Murrah as well as many up-and-coming songwriter/artists here in Nashville.
I had a songwriting session this past Monday at BMG with Ben Goldsmith and Tori Tullier (winner of ASCAP's prestigious Sammy Cahn award - past recipients include John Mayer & Lori McKenna) and I told my co-writers that I had an idea for a song with the lyric "Beautiful Girls Aren't Supposed To Die Young." We built this song "Beautiful Girls (Diem's Song), produced by Belmont student Mixing Engineer Jared Conrad, and bass guitarist/producer Jordan Hester. I took the time to find some highlights from Diem's life that matched the lyrics and made a music video. The songwriters and I are dedicating it to her charity MedGift, which is basically a crowd funding site to donate money, wigs, gifts, and time to people with cancer and other critical illnesses. .
The track can be purchased here http://www.cdbaby.com/m/cd/davismallory and proceeds of which go to Diem's charity www.MedGift.com
The song is now up on VEVO:
Please take a listen and share with your audiences if you feel so inclined to keep the memory of Diem going strong! I would LOVE this to be her version of "Candle In the Wind" for Princess Diana.
