Recap For June 4, 2013

Hello and welcome to America's Got Talent on NBC. Tonight is the season premiere with two new judges. Mel B of the Spice Girls and Heidi Klum of supermodel and Project Runway fame will join Howie Mandel and Howard Stern to help choose new acts for the season.
Since there are four judges, they will need three yeses to make it to Vegas. In the event of a tie it is considered a no.

We start off in San Antonio with David The Cobra Kid Weathers, who does tricks with snakes. Kids, don't try this at home. Everyone is in awe watching him, especially when he uses a balloon by the snake…..I am not quite sure what happened, but it had me on the edge of my seat.

Mel B: She can't wait to see what he does next.
Howie: He is out of his mind…it was amazing.
Howard: It was real danger and it had them on the edge of their seats.
Heidi: She is glad no poison needed to be sucked out of her.

Country singer Marty Brown does a Bob Dylan cover. He reminds me of a cross between Garth Brooks, Bob Dylan and my friend Chris Rattie. Pure, heartmelting music.

Heidi: It was beautiful and she also loved seeing his wife's reaction. She invites her onto the stage to join them. She says how she surprised him with the audition…WOW.
Howard: He would be honored to have him in the studio and thanks his wife for this audition.
Mel B: She loved it!
Howie: He is amazing and showed them not to judge a book by its cover.

New York auditions kick off with Nick Cannon announcing that the shows will be held in Radio City this season.

Dancer Miu does a robotic contortionist dance that gets her sent home.

More acts are rejected, including Lou Ferringo Magic Mike wannabe and then we get to some fun moments with the judges and some yodeling aliens. Heidi attempts to yodel as well….as for the rest, I have no words….none whatsoever…

Catapult does a shadow dancing act very similar to the act that won everyone's hearts on Britain's Got Talent. It tells a different story, but the act is similar. It is my favorite so far.

Howie: They may have started with nothing, but they gave them everything tonight.
Heidi: She loved it and thinks it was amazing.
Mel B: It was incredible, original, sexy and they hit a home run.
Howard: He bows down to them and says it was all they were looking for.

Hype are a trip of dancers who do a modern day Singing In The Rain. I actually quite like it. It has a lot of modern day dancing with an old school feel to it.  The fact that they came up with it overnight is even more impressive.

Howie: He is impressed with the routine.
Mel B: That was ridiculously sexy.
Heidi: She wants to see more.
Howard: Spectacular job.

We get another montage of acts who impress and make it to Vegas, including a shadow guy with the blow up doll.

A guy does shots, consumes a hot pepper and goes in an ice tub. He is sent home, but Howie wants to keep him. He and Howard to a pepper eating contest and chug milk.

A young singer is rejected and then we get to another child act.

Anna Christine is ten years old who sings and plays the piano. Howard tells her he is the Mister Rogers of the show. HA! I love this guy, so cute. Okay, take Alicia Keys, Miss Melanie of Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats and Adele and you will have this girl….and this is the highest compliment I can ever give. She is a superstar in the making.

Howard: This is a superstar!
Heidi: She loved it and can't believe she is ten.
Mel B: She has depth and something special.
Howie: This blew is mind!

3 Penny Chorus is a band of 60 people….all volunteers. They do a rendition of Call Me, Maybe that I just love. It consists of string instruments, drums, various singers and more. I am impressed and would love to see what else they can come up with. It also reminds me of that episode of Frasier where he is trying to come up with a jingle.

Mel B.: She loves it.
Howie: The song choice was brilliant and it was an amazing performance.
Heidi: She likes the song choice.
Howard: It was an uplifting performance.

At the LA auditions, we get a chorus group make it to the next round and then a missing contestant. They finally find him and he introduces himself as Special Head. Howie says this would be him on a sedative. He meditates and then ends up midair. Heidi is in shock and trying to figure out how he did it.

Howard: He takes back the X and says he liked what he did.
Heidi: She tried to figure it out.
Mel B: She loves it.
Howie: He wants to see more.

Angela Hoover is a comedian who was a stay at home mom and now back for her second chance. She does a fun segment with celebrity impressions at a birthday party. It is hilarious and deserves the standing ovation she got from Howie and Mel B.

Howard: She was smooth and it was as if she never gave up.
Heidi: She kind of looked like the women she became.
Mel B: She thanks her for the performance and loves it.
Howie: He loves it and says she has great stage presence.

Four yeses=VEGAS!!!!!!

After more rejections and Spice Girls jokes from Howard….and him singing Wannabe…..we get to Tone The Chiefrocca, who sing a booty song. It is catchy and entertaining. Everyone is dancing along and screaming for him to go to Vegas.

Howard: He struck a cord and loves it!
Heidi: They got the booties itching to dance.
Mel B: She loves it!
Howie: He can keep doing the same song….he loves it.

THEY ARE OFF TO VEGAS!!! To celebrate, the run through the audience singing, dancing and getting everyone else to join.

Tune in next Tuesday for more America's Got Talent. Goodnight.
